5 Superfoods You Should Be Eating

For many people, the immediate goal is to lose weight and gain a better physical appearance.  However, your overall goals should be to live a healthy lifestyle because if you can accomplish this, you will end up with a great looking body in the process.  Here, I’m going to give you a list of 5 ‘superfoods’ I recommend you start eating now to get yourself on the way to a healthy body.  Not only will these foods give your body the energy it needs to be active and burn fat, but they will lead you on a path to avoid diseases such as diabetes and heart disease.

Here they are (in no particular order):

Organ Meats
Liver is great for your HealthHere is why you need to start incorporating organ meats into your diet:  they are incredibly healthy and contain high concentrations on nutrients that are not found in other cuts of meat.  While there are benefits to eating all of the organs, such as hearts and tongues, I’m only suggesting you start eating liver and kidney.  It is a true fact that many predator animals such as lions and tigers will eat the liver first after killing fresh prey.  There is a very good reason behind this.  The liver has a protein content higher than that many other foods out there.  It also gives you more than the daily value of riboflavin, copper, vitamin A, vitamin B12, and even niacin.  The kidney is also high in these nutrients and all organ meats are very low in carbohydrates, meaning you will lose weight from eating meat.

Dark Chocolate
Dark Chocolate is Great for your HealthThis suggestion is my gift to you.  I’m recommending you eat chocolate to be healthy and lose weight.  However, I’m not talking about hershey kisses or snickers bars.  I’m talking about some seriously dark chocolate.  In fact, the darker the chocolate, the healthier it is.  You see, because natural chocolate is made from plants, it provides you with many of the same health benefits.  For example, dark chocolate is rich in flavanoids which are similar to antioxidants in that they fight free radicals in your body.  These flavanoids have even been shown to prevent heart disease.  Dark chocolate can also lower your blood pressure and levels of bad cholesterol.

Leafy Greens
leafy greens promote healthLeafy greens are an incredibly healthy food that is perhaps the best food for weight loss and fat burning. They are very low in carbohydrates and perhaps has the second most nutrients calorie for calorie (organ meats being number one).  Leafy greens also contain the daily value for almost every nutrient your body needs such as potassium, iron, calcium and magnesium.  They also have many vitamins your body needs like vitamin K, vitamin C, vitamin E, and most of the all-important B vitamins.

Salmon
Salmon is great for your HealthNot only is salmon a tasty treat but it is great for you too!  Salmon has high concentrations of omega 3 which has been shown to be very good for your heart.  In fact, omega 3 fatty acids can raise good cholesterol and lower bad cholesterol at the same time.  Salmon, and all fish, are also very low in carbohydrates which will greatly help you lose fat.  And don’t worry about anything you’ve heard on the news or from friends about not eating too much fish because of the mercury.  The benefits of eating fish heavily outweigh the low risk of eating too much mercury.

Eggs
EggsEggs are not just healthy, but you can prepare them in so many different ways, they never get boring.  From scrambled eggs to omelets to hardboiled, the possibilities are endless.  They are also very high in protein which helps maintain muscle mass which is especially important if you’re on a low-calorie diet.  Eggs have many vitamins and minerals.  There is also new research that shows eggs may even reduce the chances of breast cancer in women.
